Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, the Moore County Old Jail was in operation for almost 100 years. Constructed of heavy oak timber, the jail contained two 8×8 jails.
A new Moore County Jail was completed in 1990, and upon its opening, the old Jail transitioned into a Museum which showcases historical clothing, artifacts, and actual jail cells the inmates occupied.
The Old Jail Museum is open from Noon to 3pm Thursday, Friday, Saturday. It’s closed most Holidays and is Handicap accessible.
Admission is $1 for Adults – Children under 16 are Free. Group rates are available.
